prosperity red cabernet sauvignon
my impression of prosperity red cabernet sauvignon is colored by my usual mistreatment of wine, which involves opening it to use in cooking and then not drinking the rest until way too much later. in this case, that was more than a week. i’ll have to give this another try sometime without letting it sit around so long after being opened.
for the record, you’re only supposed to keep open wine for three days.
last time i was at trader joe’s, they were already out of stock on the eagle & rose estate 1999 cabernet sauvignon that i had liked. so i went back to my usual “buy interesting looking labels” strategy.
mysql is looking for a north american mysql community relations manager. quality assurance engineer is another position available, and there are more listed on the website.
tamale festival, 2005
my usual food festival cohort bailed on me, but i made it out to the tamale festival anyway. and took pictures, of course.
i had tamales from three different booths, but didn’t feel up to braving the monster line for another at molly’s tamales. the ones i had were all excellent.
there was a free ring toss game sponsored by some tequila company. i managed to get two of three of my rings on a bottle. unfortunately, the prize was just a deck of cards (well, two), and not the bottle of tequila.
vibiana place courtyard
i just have to point out this picture because i am amazed that it turned out at all, given the length of the exposure. as i was walking back home from the tamale festival, i stuck my camera through the fence of the courtyard at vibiana place, where they had a party last night.
i took a few shots of city hall and other buildings during sunset, and the drum circle at not a cornfield. to check them out, just follow the photostream backwards from the shot of the courtyard.

this star tribune article has some of the wacky stats from sunday’s vikings-giants game. but the only one that really matters is the score. next week is a monday night game against the cheeseheads.
there will be a screening of the new film version of the producers at the orpheum theatre in downtown los angeles on december 14, 2005. you can buy tickets online ($50/person for non-reserved seating, or $150/person for reserved seats and a vip reception), and the proceeds benefit la’s best after school arts program.
i can’t tell if i’m a kingpin or a pauper
10 over 100 is a new website from james hong (of hot or not infamy) and josh blumenstock, an employee at hot or not, where people are encouraged to pledge 10% of their income over $100,000 to charity. the new york times had an article about what inspired it (via evhead).
i signed up, but i’m not sure that it is entirely meaningful. i already donate 10% of what i make to charity, and i make less than $100,000. i guess that makes me part of the “10 over 0” club.
someone asked me recently what i spend money on (after i said something about me being cheap), and the obvious answer of “give it away” didn’t occur to me. oops.
