it is a little disturbing to see the internet audit bureau called a key internet standards body. cpm is just such a dumb metric. it's an attempt to be way more precise than any other ad medium, even though the medium doesn't really support that precision. (in other ad news, metafilter added text ads.)

this review of michael jackson's benefit concert (taped for tv) is hilarious. one of my favorite quotes: "The waits continued, the show seemingly lasting forever. Most of the performers have to enroll their kids in the D.C. school system. Rod Stewart is now a naturalized U.S. citizen. Whomever you came with you're now legally married to. DMV employees in the audience have gotten impatient and left."

redesign! there's still tweaks to be made here and there, but things appear to generally work. the new design looks best in a browser that supports fixed positioning (which internet explorer is not — try mozilla for a browser that is more caught up to standards from 1998).
