lisa and i went this morning. got there at 9:15 am and went right in. by 10:00 am the crowd got thick. took us about two hours to get through. in some cases you must be patient and wait for a chance to stand in front of the displays. and be prepared: people wearing guided tour headphones will bump into you from time to time.
most of the stuff on display at LACMA did indeed come from Tut's tomb, but i don't think it's the "A" material. e.g. the world famous Tut burial mask whose picture appears on all the publicity brochures, banners, billboards, isn't even in the exhibit.
but, when are you going to have a chance to see this stuff again? you gotta go. all i can say is: try to get there on a weekday, right before 9 AM.
note that on Wednesdays, the rest of LACMA is closed. so i guess fewer people show up Wednesdays since the Tut ticket is good for admission to the rest of the museum as well. thus Wednesday attendees would have to have to make a second trip to "get their money's worth."
oh yeah, one other thing. don't be fooled. it's just a coffinette

Vani and I went. It was pretty neat. Not oh-man-you-gotta-go neat, but worth the time (if not the money).
We went a few weeks after it opened it when we were about through the crowd and the pushing and all that good stuff started to get really annoying, but hopefully by september 10 it will have calmed down a little.
