mysql on mactel

it was released without any fanfare, but the most recent release of mysql 5.0, 5.0.10, is available for mac os x on x86. i believe the next version of 4.1 will also be built on that platform.

you happen to know what the plans/timelines are for (OpenGIS) spatial/gis support for those functions currently using MBR?

it looks to me like it is not slated until 5.2, at the earliest. (but that may not be as far off as you think — 5.1 should happen fairly quickly after 5.0, at least compared to the time between 4.1 and 5.0.)

someone can, of course, influence the plans and timelines by sponsoring the development.
