things making my life difficult

  • new apartment requires security deposit and first month's rent as cashier's checks
  • lack of normal bank account makes getting cashier's check for security deposit and first month's rent impossible
  • transit strike

reading the news about the transit strike is very frustrating. it isn’t easy to tell what are legitimate expressions of how long it may take to resolve and whether the two sides are even meeting, and what is stupid posturing.

oh yeah, i’ll be out of town nine of the eleven days remaining until i plan on moving. (the 26th, although that seems terribly optimistic. i don’t even have boxes to pack in, let alone any packing done. in any case, i’ll need to be out of my current apartment by the 31st.)

this apartment moving boxes package may solve my box problem, although timing the delivery could be a little tricky.

what does "lack of normal BANK account" mean ?

» arvind » Thursday, October 16, 2003 @ 1:55pm

it means i’ve been using my brokerage account as my primary account. (being able to get cashier’s checks is the first problem i’ve had with that.)

i opened a savings account with bank of america and wired funds into it to deal with getting a cashier’s check. i’ll probably even keep the account, so i can make deposits locally instead of mailing them. and start raking in that glorious 0.25% interest.
