watching trading spaces has become my “breakfast” ritual. i knew there had to be a behind-the-scenes account out there on the web similar to the one for junkyard wars at teevee.org, and google complied. here's a behind-the-scenes look at trading spaces.
the dangerous thing about watching trading spaces is that it makes me dislike my apartment even more. stupid boring white walls and grey carpeting.

if you want, I can come over and plant moss on all the walls! I saw a trading spaces where a woman started to cry when she saw what they had done to her home. that's called good tv...
i get the feeling that moss and allergies wouldn't mix well. (and i've seen that episode—it was an interesting thing to do, but i can't say i cared for the effect. same with the straw on the walls from another episode.)
i've seen episodes where some of the homeowners were less than thrilled during the reveal, and some who have cried because they were so happy. in general, the reactions seem to run pretty positive. the official site has a few after-the-show stories that are interesting. (and a multi-page interview with the designer who put the moss on the walls.)
one of the coolest things i've seen done is the dropped ceiling tiles that were replaced with stained wood panels (mirroring the hardwood floor of the room). it looked awesome.
