the “mary pat shelby” episode of sports night is easily an equal to the “love’s labor lost’ episode of er. cancelling sports night was one of the stupidest things that abc ever did. (right next to forcing a laugh track on them in many episodes of the first season.) comedy central’s been showing the sports night episodes on a crazy schedule lately, but they just played the final episode in the usual thursday night slot, so that may mean they’ll be starting over this thursday.
here's a funny series of rejection letters from the new yorker, written by jack handey. funny stuff. of course, this link will be broken next time they update their site. i guess they don't really want any traffic.
hmm, the problem with the date-shifting entries may have been found and squashed. here's hoping.
every once in a while, i've noticed some server log entries showing referrals from www.iaea.org. it looks like a broken robot (since it tries to request the javascript: comment links). very odd.
"wfp2 is a search engine project at IBM Research's Almaden Center." at least that's what someone submitted a comment to tell me. i'm sure i wouldn't be the only one who would appreicate it if the bot sent a link to a page explaining itself like googlebot and slurp do. i wonder if they've fixed wfp2 to handle urls that have the ampersands encoded properly yet.
no, this is not the jury panel of which i'm part. $3 billion? absurd.
for lunch today, i went to an event put on by the los angeles fire department downtown on hope st. five bucks for a great meal cooked by the fine folks of fire station 29. the proceeds of the whole thing went to the widows, orphans & disabled firemen's fund.
go sixers.
