the premiere of abc's new show alias (you know, the one with the commercial that makes the show look like run lola run: the series by using music from the movie and having a red-headed female protagonist running around) is going to run commercial-free in "a first for ABC". uh, not if you count the premiere of gideon's crossing last year.

let's go ahead and count the number of "embedded ads" you'll see on the show. Shoes by Reebok, water by Dasani, billboards in strategic camera framing for blockbuster, etc...

Dasani doesnt really need embedded ads - arent they the ones who just recently pimped out Lisa Kudrow?

dasani is a coca-cola brand. "coke water" didn't test well, I guess. I like the idea of corporations "pimping" entertainers though. how much for milla jovovich?

actually, i found out that kudrow is actually pushing aquafina, not dasani. :)

Has anyone noticed how much the new Dasani billboards --featuring smiling, open-mouthed, Dasani-water-gulping women -- appear to be gratuitous demonstrations of fellatio? The ads are all over my hometown, San Francisco, grinning down at passing motorists. If you visit www.dasani.com, it's clear that Dasani is being marketed to female water drinkers -- which makes me wonder if they weren't the victim of a subtle conspiracy by some maverick member of their ad agency. Has anyone else noticed this, or am I smoking crack?

Absolutely right on Josh. I've been wondering if it's my own perversion that led me to that conclusion, but it's clear someone got away with something at an ad agency. Wonder why this hasn't been more publicized - I searched Google for some mention, and this site was the only relevant hit. I also live in SF, and I can't get over the fact that this hasn't ruffled more feathers.

I am doing some designs for a media theory class which help underscore the whole fellatio in advertising thing and am looking for some decent resolution shots of the dasani ads.

Any ideas where to look?

To add to Josh's comment-- there are also several billboards that evoke associations with bukakki (sp?) porn and facials. It's so clear to me.

Sorry-- I forgot to say where to look. The corner of Duboce and Valencia in San Francisco and somewhere on Valencia around 20th there should be a bukakki one on the west side of the street.
