I played around with using Meilisearch before as the search engine for my own site, and for adding search to <a href="https://news-web.php.net/">news-web.php.net</a>. I ended up just using SQLite full-text search for my site and never pushing forward on adding full-text search to the PHP mailing lists, but I was pretty impressed by Meilisearch and hope to find a time and place to use it again.
