h₂o is not your friend
actually, water is not my computer’s friend. in a spectacularly clutzy move, i managed to spill water on my desk, pretty much straight into my mac mini, and then it proceeded off the back of my desk into the power supply for my monitor. it looks like both the mac and the monitor power supply are dead.
at least the water missed my external drive. there is not really any important data on the mini itself.
i have an appointment for wednesday to see what an apple genius can do for me. besides commiserate.

I'm sorry you doused your computer, Jim. However, my personal experience indicates that all may not be lost.
About a month ago I knocked over a large Banquette coffee on my iMac. It stopped working. I unplugged everything, waited for over a week and then----it was reborn!
I hope yours will be reborn too.

I've spilled water on my old powerbook before (as well as other electronics). I've noticed that if you disconnect the power source/turn off the power immediately and let the parts dry off (especially if you can open it up to let it dry faster/better), you'd be surprised how many electronics will make it out alright!
