adding favorites on blo.gs
the blo.gs search is still down (i guess yahoo has just decided to abandon the user-facing part of the service), but you can still add a blog to your list of favorites using this bookmarklet.
it finally dawned on me i could use this to re-add the few blogs that got lost during the database mishap they had, which you can read about.. nowhere. they’ve never acknowledged it.
the next thing i need to do is write something to download my list of favorites, go out and actually check if the blogs it claims were updated were actually updated, and then generate my list of favorites with (more) accurate update information. jeremy (still) isn’t quite the blogging machine that blo.gs claims he is.
der krieger und die kaiserin (or the princess and the warrior, as it was titled for american release) is a re-teaming of director tom tykwer and actress franka potente, who also did run lola run together. as you might guess from the title, it has a bit of a fairy-tale quality to it.
it has a totally different energy than run lola run, but it is a pretty amazing film. every scene has a couple of layers to it, and it really doesn‘t fall into any easy genres, although it is a little bit of a heist film, a little bit of a romantic film, and is partially set at an insane asylum, with all the characters that brings with it.
the film is set in wuppertal, germany, and has some scenes of (and set in) the schwebebahn wuppertal, which is a suspension monorail that looks incredible.
the live debate episode of the west wing aired last night, and i thought it was really disappointing. the episode didn’t have any sort of arc to it, both smits and alda came off as poorly rehearsed, and the writing just wasn’t up to the crispness of the better episodes of the show. whether you agree with the politics or not, one of the great things that happens in regular episodes is that someone will just lay out an idea in such a coherent way that it makes you wonder why that doesn’t happen in real-life politics, and there was very little of that in the debate episode.
i was a little surprised that forrest sawyer appeared as the moderator, but i was really surprised that they put an “nbc news” bug in the lower-right.
caught up again
i’ve basically caught up on the emails that have been lingering in my inbox, taunting me and my lack of motivation to answer them. (some people play the “i’m so busy” card, but i’m willing to admit that i’m just lame.)
but i can blame some of my recent lameness in apparently not answering emails on my server getting caught up in a spam blacklist. so there’s probably a few that i answered but only i know that because the reply was eaten by some spam filter somewhere. now i’ve been migrated to a new address block, so that should be less of an issue.
