remember oil storm, the faux-documentary on fx? here’s the first sentence from the synopsis: “oil storm examines when a category six hurricane in the gulf of mexico slams into louisiana, crushing the city of new orleans and crippling the vital pipeline for refined oil that is port fourchon.”

In the movie it was category 4 hurricane, just as Katrina was. It was not a 6!

One news station reported that as much as one third of our domestic production would be offline for the duration of the storm (and possibly days beyond that).
Some imported supplies will be offline for a time because there's a deep water input pipeline 12 miles out of New Orleans, where very large tankers come to slake the nation's energy thirst. Of course, this is not currently functioning.
Now the rest of the nation will experience the thrill of $3.00 gas.
