a chow yun fat weekend

on sunday, i watched a couple of movies featuring chow yun fat: first, one of his well-known hong kong flicks, a better tomorrow, and his second american film, the corruptor. i'd call them both serviceable flicks, but neither was particularly extraordinary. a better tomorrow had great style, of course, but suffered from a fairly unfocused plot. later john woo and chow yun fat collaborations were better. the corrupter was fairly unmemorable, which is basically what you'd expect from an american director doing a hong kong-style film. it clearly co-starred the wrong wahlberg.
