slate's look at the poor (recent) record of the s&p 500 index is interesting. it will be fascinating to look back in ten years or so to see how the index continues to fare. (it's disappointing that the article didn't take much of a look at how similar situations played out in the history of the index. it's not like this was the first bubble to ever hit the market.)
just got this in the mail today: howard berman, the representative from disney (oh, and my district) will be holding a town hall meeting tuesday august 6th at 6pm at the el portal theater at 5269 lankershim blvd. (that's in north hollywood.)

i'm sure that allowing police departments to use intellectual property
law to control how they are portrayed on television is exactly the sort of thing the authors of the constitution had in mind. this must promote the progress of science and useful arts in some way that i'm just missing.
