hddtemp is a neat little linux tool to tell you what temperature your hard drive is running at, assuming it is a new-ish drive that has such a sensor. (via htp.)
both boing boing and raelity bytes appear to have stopped pinging weblogs.com (and, by extension, blo.gs). boing boing uses blogger (pro?) which i thought automatically pinged weblogs.com. rael is using blosxom, which doesn't.
i guess this means i should get in gear on implementing the real polling service for blo.gs (one exists now, but it is pretty crude) to deal with these laggards.
this london on a chip may be the coolest thing ever. basically it's a (tiny) neon sign of a map of london, and when you apply voltage to two points, the shortest route lights up.
sometimes it's hard to reconcile respect for someone wiling to farm for a living with the massive subsidies the farm industry receives. the federal government sometimes talks a good game on free trade, but then you realize that there are powerful, powerful lobbies that make sure their industries are exempt from the complications of a market economy.
