now that we're in summer rerun season, my tivo is filling up with cooking shows (like 30 minute meals and oliver's twist, for example), i'm catching up on dvds from my netflix queue (like groove) and others i've bought (the simpsons season one), and i'm digging the various documentary series that the networks like to dump in the summer (like houston medical, boston 24/7, crime & punishment, and state v.).
oh yeah, and like the nice weather and stuff.

yeah, groove was quite good for a film from a first-time director. and it looked pretty amazing for an independent film with presumably a near-zero budget. i'm a little surprised to see the director doesn't seem to have moved on to other films, but not at all surprised to see that the directory of photography has.
the music was all pretty awesome. i'll probably end up picking up the soundtrack and then picking up albums from various artists that sound cool based on that. (assuming that i want to start pouring money down that drain. ugh. stupid price-fixing music oligopoly.)
(and i got a kick out of picking brian behlendorf, one of the apache guys, one of the instigators of hyperreal and an investor in the film, out of the background.)

I happened to catch Groove on HBO a couple of weeks ago and really liked it. I rented it from netfix and watched the directers commentary and will probably buy the dvd for my collection. i also ended up buying a cd of one of the artists on the soundtrack.
