ok, since you didn't ask, here' s what's different about my new tivo (dual tuner) and the old 1.0 stand-alone. smaller size- nice to reduce the size of the entertainment "tower". 30 hours means 30 hours at mpeg2 quality- no more of that '30-hour-means-9-hours-at-high-quality' bull. records two shows at once without having to buy a second line from directv- a rare situation where they aren't chiseling your pocketbook. you can't record or rewind the digital audio channels- lame. you can choose between the directv interface and the tivo interface- for those who get used to one or the other. overall, the best $100 I've ever spent.
