webvan packs it in. ouch. there goes that money. thanks a lot, pete.
the los angeles times redesigned their website, and made it even easier for me to syndicate their content. i also started scraping their food section.
inside.com has more info about the redesign of latimes.com. one of the things they did is ditch all of the existing registered users because they couldn't figure out a way to transfer the user information between the old and new systems. nitwits. apparently they're also planning to charge for content, eventually. that will be a good way to get me to stop reading.
the interface for windows xp makes me want to start using crayons more often.
some guy is suing hbo and alan ball, claiming that they ripped off his idea and turned it into six feet under. if they did rip him off, they certainly improved his idea immeasurably based on the description of his version in the article. his take on the concept sounds like it was taken from a british television comedy and made less funny to suit american tastes. (not that there was a british television comedy set in a funeral home that i'm aware of. it just seems like there must have been one, doesn't it?)
six feet under is brilliant, of course. more television shows should have ghosts.
