inside.com has more info about the redesign of latimes.com. one of the things they did is ditch all of the existing registered users because they couldn't figure out a way to transfer the user information between the old and new systems. nitwits. apparently they're also planning to charge for content, eventually. that will be a good way to get me to stop reading.

To me it sounds like it was party a business decision... You have to be a pretty stooopid tech person to not find a way to move data between two databases you have some kind of access to.
