the current performance of the picks in my stock portfolio: $16,844.48. red because that's negative, baby. most of that is the bath i'm taking on webvan. at this point, selling the stock would just barely cover the commission on the sale. this doesn't count the money i theoretically have tied up in some idealab! shares. i'm not a complete idiot -- i actually made money on be. of course, then i plowed that money into webvan, so maybe i am an idiot. if i weren't a coward, i'd actually pick up some shares of apple. the new imacs look pretty dumb, but the other stuff they've rolled out recently is impressive.

i finally recreated the popup entry form for this weblog/journal thing. i also cleaned up the permalink stuff a little bit, and added a feature that lets me post a longer entry that only includes the first paragraph on the trainedmonkey homepage with a "more" link to the full piece. yeah, i'm sure you care. maybe someday i'll write something long enough to be worthy of such an advanced feature.

watching the yes/no questions people ask is very frightening. apparently some people take it quite seriously, and think it can really tell them if some person will have sex with them again, or still loves them, or wants them to call, or loves someone else, or what have you. people interrogate this poor pen as if it was something more than rand()%2.

the salon recaps of survivor episodes are probably more fun than the actual show. (but i'll cop to watching the show, too, while my tivo records the nbc lineup.)
