no marks for cookery
road to perdition shows its graphic novel roots very strongly—sparse dialogue, beautiful photography, and iconic imagery. it was well acted, and while tom hanks was fine, it would really be nice to see him in a role that he could really own again. his latest stuff just hasn't seemed to fit him quite right.

memorial day
midway was a bit of queue fortuity for today. a serviceable war flick, if nothing special. some of the actors for bit parts was amusing—erik estrada, tom selleck, pat morita, dabney coleman. and how can you not like hal holbrook?
