quoth shrub: no authority of government can ever prevent an american from pledging allegiance to this one nation under god. i'm not sure where that is under dispute. it would be nice if he would say: no authority of government can ever force an american to pledge allegiance to this one nation under god. quibble about the beliefs of the founding fathers all you want, but i think the first amendment is pretty clear on this point, and still as relevant today as 211 years ago.
