the exception i'll take to robert scheer's article about the recent personal bankruptcy law being pushed through congress is that the headline implies that the idea came from congress—it is clearly a law bought and paid for by the credit card “industry,” and the language was almost certainly drafted by their lobbyists. it's been a long time since anyone in congress had an idea of their own.
