d'oh. if you came here from there, you're probably really looking for here, particularly the things linked to by the dates in the 'news sources' box on the left. those are the rss republishings of the feeds i'm collecting. (there's also this, which is the rss form of this weblog (or blog, if you're more comfortable with that term). just don't pay attention to any stock-picking thoughts i may spout. i "bought" yahoo into a fake portfolio on 3/2/1.)

an email interview with dave eggers. a good quote (a rhetorical question, not an interview question): "do we want or expect conglomerates to make our best art?" another: "no one's preventing anyone from starting new ventures." (but there are certainly companies that would like to, by erecting more tollbooths on the internet to go with the existing ones. setting up an ecommerce site on the net is still absurdly painful and expensive even if you are willing to roll up your sleeves and do work.)

does anyone really care about cybersquatting from the perspective of the big companies? it just bugs me that every time i have a fun idea of something to do, i can't find a decent domain name. i noticed the other day that .ly names are available from register.com. notreal.ly is available. (but .ly is libya's tld, so you're probably supporting libya in some way by registering there.)
